Is Fair Skin Really Considered Beautiful In Asia?

I heard that in many parts of Asia, fair skin is considered beautiful. Does that mean kind of light, or the Irish/European white?

i was born in the philippines and i am dark as hell! growing with dark skin didnt make me cool like some of my friends who are light skinned. but when i got in the US. darker is cooler hehe..
fair skin is not just beautiful but cooler in asia. people would be like wow if ur white haha
Well fair asian skin is different from fair european skin.
Fair skin looks great on asians.
Tanned skin looks great on Europeans.
When an asian is trying to look fairer it doesn’t mean they want to look caucuasian. It just means they want to look prettier.
I know in Japan and Philippines they use whitening products.
